But your budget is really tight and you know almost nothing about computers? Don't worry, Chowder is here to help:)
Computers for Beginners - Buying a Computer
- Processor - most of the processors nowadays are multi core and power efficient. You didn't really need those high-end, super hi-tech processors. Just look for a multi core processor with high clockspeed (2.0GhZ - 2.5GhZ is enough). The cheapest but most efficient brand nowadays is Core 2 Duo.
- Memory - Get a minimum of 2GB. You dont need those memory sticks (RAM) with heatsinks or whatsoever, a very simple memory stick will do. Dont buy DDR, they are outdated. The cheapest but most efficient is DDR2-800 (this is a type of memory stick not a brand).
- Hard disks - they are very cheap nowadays, get at-least 320Gb.
- Motherboard - Your local computer shop will help you on this one because the motherboard depends on what kind of hardware you choose from above.
- GPU or Graphics Card - If you're not into gaming, you dont have to buy one, the "built-in" Graphic Processor on motherboard will be enough. But if you're a gamer, buy the cheapest but most efficient: Nvidia 8800 GT.
- Casing - Anything will do
- Power Supply - Dont buy the cheapest, but you also didnt need the expensive ones, mid-range PSU (power supply unit) is enough
- Monitor - Any will do,.
